Materials

  • Worsted (medium) weight yarn:
    68 oz/3,944 yds/1,928g assorted colors
  • Size N/15/10mm crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge
  • Tapestry needle

Gauge
8 dc = 4 inches with 2 strands held tog

Pattern Notes
Afghan is worked from side to side.
Use 2 strands held tog throughout.

 

When attaching next color and when fastening off previous color at begs and ends of rows, leave 3-inch lengths for fringe (optional).
When changing colors in mid-row, weave ends in securely on WS with tapestry needle.
To change color in dc, work dc with working color until last 2 lps before final yo remain on hook, drop working color to WS, yo with next color, complete dc.

Afghan
Row 1 (RS):
With 1 strand each of any 2 colors held tog, ch 122, dc in 4th ch from hook (skipped 3 chs counts as first dc) and in each rem ch across, changing to next 2 colors in last stitch, fasten off first 2 colors, turn. (120 dc)

Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as first dc throughout), dc in next st and in each rem st across, changing to next 2 colors in last st, fasten off previous 2 colors, turn. (120 dc)

Rep row 2 until afghan measures 57 inches or desired width.

Fringe (Optional)
Tie 3-inch lengths on top and bottom ends of afghan with square knots for fringe. Cut two 3-inch lengths of yarn and tie with square knot between first 2 units of fringe at top. Rep for each sp between 2 units of fringe across rem of top and across bottom. Cut two 3-inch lengths of yarn and tie with a square knot in first st on either long edge. Rep for each rem st across same long edge and across next long edge.
